সোনারগাঁও পৌরসভার হাতকোপা এলাকায় স্থানীয় জনসংখ্যা বৃদ্ধির সাথে সাথে ভাড়াটিয়া মুসুল্লির সংখ্যাও বেড়েঁ চলছে নিয়মিত। হাতকোপা কেন্দ্রীয় জামে মসজিদ ও দলৈরবাগ কেন্দ্রীয় জামে মসজিদে প্রতি জুমায় যায়গা সংকুলানের কারনে নামাজ পড়তে সমস্যায় পরতে হয়। এছাড়াও হাতকোপা গ্রামের মধ‍্য পাড়া দলৈর বাগ, অনন্তমুছা ও কবর স্থান রোড সংলগ্ন মুসুল্লিদের জন‍্য দূর ও কষ্টদায়ক হয়ে যায় হাতকোপা কেন্দ্রীয় জামে মসজিদ ও দলৈরবাগ কেন্দ্রীয় জামে মসজিদে যাতায়াত।

যার ফলে সামাজিকভাবে তিন মহল্লার জনগণ চিন্ত-ভাবনা করে একটি নতুন মসজিদ তৈরী করার জন‍্য আলোচনা সভার আয়োজন করেন।

এ সভায় সোনারগাঁ পৌরসভার ৭ ও ৮ নং ওয়ার্ডের হাতকোপা গ্রামের মধ‍্য পাড়ায় অর্থাৎ হাতকোপা, দলৈর বাগ, অনন্তমুছা ও কবর স্থান রোড সংলগ্ন মুসুল্লিদের ও বিত্তবানদের আন্তরিকতায় মসজিদ নির্মাণ করা খুবই জরুরি হয়ে পড়েছে বিষয়টি আলোচনায় গুরুত্বপায়। পাশাপাশি মসজিদের জন্য ভূমি বরাদ্দের ও নির্মান ব্যায়ের ঘোষণাসহ মসজিদ উন্নয়ন কমিটিও করা হয়। কমিটির পক্ষে আশাবাদ ব্যক্ত করা হয় এ বছর রমজানের তারাবি নামাজ এই নতুন মসজিদে পড়বো ইনশা আল্লাহ। এতে এলাকার সর্বস্তরের মানুষের সাড়া মেলে।

এতে হাতকোপা কেন্দ্রীয় জামে মসজিদের সভাপতি মোঃ বাবুল বেপারী ৪ শতাংশ জায়গা ক্রয়সূত্রে দান করার ঘোষণা দেন । মোঃ আবুল কাশেম মোল্লা-১ শতাংশ ক্রয়সূত্রে। মোঃ আবু হানিফ—১ শতাংশ ক্রয়সূত্রে। মোঃহানিফ প্রধান ও মোঃ রিপন প্রধান -১শতাংশ। হাজী মোঃ তোফাজ্জল মিয়া ও তার ছেলে রুবেল -১.৫০শতাংশ। মোঃ রাতুল প্রবাসী ০.৫০ শতাংশ। এই এলাকার যুবকদের পক্ষ হইতে -১শতাংশের ঘোষণা আসে।

মোট ১০ শতাংশ জায়গা ক্রয় করে তারা সকলে মসজিদ উন্নয়নের জন‍্য প্রস্তাব অনুমোদন করেন। এখানে সকলের উপস্থিতিতে ও আলোচনার মাধ‍্যমে এই মসজিদটি চার তলা ভবন তৈরী করার সিদ্ধান্ত গৃহীত হয়।

প্রথমে নীচ তলার জন‍্য পাইলিং ছাড়া খুটিসহ ছাদ ঢালাইয়ের খরচের টাকার ঘোষণা দেন বিশিষ্ট সমাজ সেবক মোঃ কাশেম মোল্লা।

কাশেম মোল্লার ছোট ভাই মোঃ জাহের মোল্লা তিনি মসজিদের ভিতরের সন্দর্য বর্ধনের জন‍্য টাইল প্রদান করিবেন ও যতদিন বেচেঁ থাকবেন মসজিদ উন্নয়নের জন‍্য প্রতিমাসে ৫ হাজার টাকা করে দান করবেন বলে আসস্থ করেছেন।

হাতকোপা গ্রামের বিশিষ্ট সমাজ সেবক মোঃ রফিকুল ইসলাম এই মসজিদের চার পাশের দেওয়াল নির্মাণ করে দেওয়ার ঘোষণা দিয়েছেন।

১০শতাংশ জায়গার মধ‍্যে ৫ শতাংশ জায়গায় মসজিদ নির্মাণ আর ৫ শতাংশ জায়গা সামাজিক অন‍্যান কাজের জন‍্য রাখা হবে বলে জানিয়েছেন।

এই মসজিদ নির্মাণের জন‍্য একটি উন্নয়ন কমিটি গঠন করা হয়েছে। উন্নয়ন কমিটির সভাপতি মোঃ কাশেম মোল্লা, সহ- সভাপতি মোঃ আবু হানিফ, সহ-সভাপতি মোঃ শাজাহান মেম্বার, সহ-সভাপতি হাজী মোঃ রফিকুল ইসলাম, সাধান সম্পাদক মোঃ হানিফ প্রধান। সহ-সাধারন সম্পাদক মোঃ জাহের মোল্লা, কোষাধক্ষ মোঃ আমান মিয়া ও মোঃ রিপন মিয়া।
